Gadkari Announces Rs 3 Lakh Crore Road Contracts in Three Months

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced plans to award road contracts worth Rs 3 lakh crore within three months and aim for Rs 5 lakh crore by the end of the financial year. Due to the Lok Sabha elections and the model code of conduct, initial project awards were slow. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will facilitate funding through toll income, projected to rise to Rs 1.4 lakh crore in two years. NHAI awarded 95 km of projects till June. Stocks in construction, infrastructure, and automobile sectors might be affected.
