Gold prices surged Rs 700 to a lifetime high of Rs 91,950 per 10 grams on Wednesday, driven by strong jeweller demand ahead of the wedding season and rising Middle East tensions. Spot gold also hit a record USD 3,045.39 per ounce. Central banks’ aggressive gold buying and inflows into gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are supporting the uptrend. Experts predict gold could reach USD 4,000 per ounce by 2025.
