Indian Gold Industry Forms New Self-Regulatory Body for Greater Transparency

The Indian gold industry has established the Indian Association for Gold Excellence and Standards (IAGES), a new self-regulatory organization (SRO) supported by the World Gold Council. IAGES aims to enhance transparency and trust in the sector by promoting fair practices, regulatory compliance, and a code of conduct. Formed by major industry associations such as IBJA, GJC, and GJEPC, IAGES will begin operations by December 2024 or January 2025. This move is expected to bolster consumer and government confidence, setting high standards for ethics and sustainability in India’s gold industry.
