Over 7 Crore Income Tax Returns Filed by Deadline

As of 7 pm on July 31, the final day for filing income tax returns for the 2023-24 fiscal year, over 7 crore ITRs have been filed. This includes more than 50 lakh ITRs submitted on the deadline day alone. For the same period last year, the total number of ITRs filed was over 6.77 crore, with 64.33 lakh filed on the last day. The Income Tax department’s helpdesk provided 24×7 support via calls, live chats, WebEx sessions, and Twitter/X to assist taxpayers.
