The rupee rebounded 15 paise to close at 87.44 against the US dollar after the Reserve Bank of India cut the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25%. The rate cut, the first since May 2020, was in line with market expectations. Despite this, foreign institutional investors remained net sellers, and concerns over US-China trade tariffs continue to weigh on currency markets.
