Rupee Slips to 85.77 as Dollar Gains on US Auto Tariff News

Indian Rupee Hits Record Low Amid Market Pressures

The rupee weakened by 8 paise to close at 85.77 against the US dollar due to month-end dollar demand from importers and the greenback’s recovery. The US dollar strengthened after President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on auto imports from April. Rising crude oil prices and liquidity concerns also pressured the rupee. However, strong domestic markets and foreign fund inflows limited further losses. The rupee is expected to trade between 85.60 and 86.10 soon.
