The Indian government will increase its stake in Vodafone Idea to 48.99% by converting Rs 36,950 crore of outstanding spectrum auction dues into equity. The company will issue 3,695 crore equity shares at Rs 10 each within 30 days. Despite the higher government stake, promoters will retain operational control.
